Saturday Morning Readings and Kaffeeklatsches

Readings and Kaffeeklatsches will be held on Discord in the “Readings and Kaffeeklatsch” video chat rooms. This is a great time to get some one-on-few time with a guest and ask them questions in casual, fun settings while possibly also getting a sneak peak at some new work.

Saturday October 17, 2020 11:30am EDT

Room 1: Freddie Silva

Please join me for a reading from my latest story titled What do Vegetarian Werewolves eat. This is the next book in my series titled Heart of Odin. If you like urban fantasy based upon mythology, you'll want to stop by and check this out.

Room 2: Linda Mercury

Linda Mercury knows all about rejection and bad reviews. Learn her tips for getting past the nasty words and getting back to living. #LindaMercury #writing #nomorenastypeople #itsokaytohavethinskin http://LindaMercury.com

Room 3: empty

Room 4: Melissa McArthur

Do you have questions about working with a small press, publishing, editing, writing, or pretty much anything else? Melissa McArthur, associate publisher at Falstaff Books, is opening the floor for a very rare Ask Me Anything!

Room 5: Alex Hofelich

PseudoPod is a horror fiction venue that has been bringing you free weekly short stories in podcast form for the last 14 years. Do you like short horror fiction? Come talk to Alex Hofelich, who has been involved with the podcast for over a decade and in one of the big chairs for the last five. Are you a writer? PseudoPod is open to submissions from October 15 through November 2. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about the submissions process and discuss some of the ins and outs of an open call with Alex and members of the Associate Editor team. Already a PseudoPod fan? Our curation is set assuming that no one will love every single episode, but every single episode is someone's favorite. We love hearing what yours is. Come join us for a coffee!

Saturday, October 17, 2020 1:00pm EDT

Room 1: Tyra Burton

Have questions about social media, podcasting, marketing, or indie writing? Join Tyra and together we'll look for answers. She'll be chatting about all things geeky, social, and digital and maybe readings from Penduli Station and her work in progress. #GeekMeetsSocial

Room 2: Tonia Ransom

Join horror writer and NIGHTLIGHT horror podcast creator Tonia Ransom as she reads an excerpt from her upcoming debut novel, Risen, a story about an ER doctor who learns that not only does the afterlife exist, so do zombies…and now she is one. The reading will be followed by a Q&A to discuss writing #horror, podcasting, or whatever else participants want to talk about.

Room 3: Tony Sarracchia

Tony will talk about all things AD, writing, producing, casting, promoting. This will be an audience-centric discussion so the topics will revolve around what the audience wants to hear. Interactivity is encouraged.

Room 4: L. Marie Wood

You thought you were dead.  Waking up and looking all around you, you realize all you learned about The Afterlife was a fantasy. You don't know where you are, but you do know it's not a safe place. You need to run. NOW!  L. Marie Wood reads an excerpt of her upcoming novel, The Realm, to be released on October 29th and answers questions about writing horror fiction, screenplays, and the genre.

Room 5: Rhonda Jackson Joseph

Please come join R. J. Joseph as she reads various bits of creepiness from her works. As an additional bonus, R. J. will gift 5 random attendees with a free copy of Southwest Review's Volume 105, Autumn 2020, which includes her newest story "Conflict Resolution".
